LeanOnUs 1st Milestone!
WOOHOO! It feels like we have crossed the finish line with all the
hurdles we have had to face along the way. But, and it’s a big BUT…
this is just our first milestone along the way!
The hurdles have been many; things to learn, people to see, places
to go, ‘n’ all that. This first year has been a steep learning
curve for us but with the help of our community we have been able
to grow at a steady pace. And we don’t plan on stopping
there.
One of our aims was to provide a safe haven. With the help of our
Facebook group, Twitter followers and those who have allowed us to
feature them on our site and forums we feel that we have achieved
that. We can't thank you enough for all the support that we have
received. We have built up a wonderful community who can laugh and
have fun but also talk about serious issues and support others.
It’s easy to feel helpless when trying to help others,
and sometimes it’s impossible for us to help in reality,
but community members being there for each other has
made a difference to many
lives.
Another important aim was to provide understanding and care so that others don’t feel so alone. This isn’t an easy thing to do. You can’t make people feel a certain way; sometimes we can help to change how someone feels but this isn’t always the case. But we can try and help. We hope in the past year that we have helped some feel less alone and made them realise that there are others out there that do care and understand.
Ok… so enough of the serious stuff! We can’t believe that we
are here… 1 year later… the site may look a little different; we
may have changed things around but we are still here. Woohoo! In a
sense it’s a relief as they say the first year is the hardest. AND
we hope so! It has been hard but it’s also been a LOT of
fun and we want to thank you all for your
support.
It really does feel like a community of people who care and want to help others; who have been through tough times and are willing to share... and others who may have not have been through as tough a time but still care and want to help in some other way! Whether we have had the same experiences in life or not, none of us are immune to what goes on in life or what is around us. This truly is 'A Community Here For You!
Now let the celebrations begin!
Firstly, we would like to convey a special 'thank you' to Michael Voogd of VoogDesigns for kicking off our celebrations with his fantastic artwork. You may have also noticed that Michael does Bruce Sallan's comic strip 'Because I Said So'. Go check out the link on our homepage for VoogDesigns and listen to what Bruce has to say about Michael!
Anyway... Shauna has been busy cooking, not food, but been busy cooking stuff up to share with you all! We hope you like some of the goodies she has found. With some help (well... maybe a LOT!) we have been able to get together some giveaways for you all. We hope you like them and if you have ANY questions or want more information about any of them just ask.
We have 4 Giveaways for you!
Bruce Sallan Radio Show
Be a guest on Bruce's weekly radio show. If you have something to say then this is for you! One person will win a segment to be a guest of Bruce Sallan who hosts his own radio show at BruceSallan.com. You may have noticed his weekly columns that he shares with us. Go have a read as it's not just for dads!
(Please note that the winner will be responsible for all call costs when calling into the radio show and that calls must be made from a landline. If you are located within the UK please contact us if you need help finding a cheap call provider. The "winner" should be comfortable speaking on radio. It is NOT a call-in show and they'd "appear" for ONE segment that lasts about 10 minutes. Their qualifications should be that they have SOMETHING TO SAY - the gift of gab so to speak!)
