Our Thoughts on YOU!

Multi Gamer’s Paradise

by Sonya

While we were playing Literati on Yahoo, Daniel mentioned that he was chatting to tygers.pryd and that he was hoping to become a Tournament Director for their gaming league.

We were really excited about it as MGP was our first official contact! So, I left the boys to it and just got updates from Dan who said ‘Tyg was a pretty cool guy’. AND he was right. John aka Rocky aka Tyg :) runs a great gaming league on Yahoo! They play Canasta, Cribbage and Backgammon and are truly the 'drama-free' gaming league. John is extremely friendly and enthusiastic and very kind and this shows not only in his dealings within the league but also on a personal level outside the league. He's a listening ear, is realistic but tries to stay positive. A great guy and a great bunch to play with. Why not check them out here.

Child Abuse Anti-Bullying System (CAABS)

by Sonya

If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook you will see that we regularly share information about CAABS and CABBY, that cute green alien!

We really believe that supporting their petition will help to get this 'UNIQUE' and 'SIMPLE' software into all schools so that it can benefit children by taking the initial pressure off them to report abuse.  They don't need to feel intimidated or scared to speak up any more.

It was our honour to meet CABBY on Twitter and we are now supporting CAABS on Facebook as page admin. They have also been a great support on our site by allowing us to share with them in trying to promote the petition.  Along with this they have spent time sharing information and moderating a forum on our site.

We are in regular contact and I have spoken to the team on the telephone several times.  A lot of heart and soul has gone into the development of this system and care shown when it comes to it being totally child friendly.  It's amazing!

Advertising The World
by Sonya

A few weeks ago I connected with @AdvertisingTheW on Twitter (a part quote of their profile is “I want to help people succeed! If you follow me I will promote you. That’s what I'm about…” And they lived up to that!).

They were supportive and encouraged us to take a look at their site but when we had a look Shauna and I couldn’t see how we could fit in and use it to its full potential... click to read more

A Band of Wives (ABOW)
By Shauna

I joined  this great group for women called A Band of Wives (ABOW).  They are a great supportive site and terrific people. They do awesome things for community!

This is exactly what they do, taken from their 'About Us':

"A Band of Wives is helping women bring community back to their communities.  ABOW provides virtual and direct support for women. It is a place for women to connect, socialize, network and promote their businesses, talents, events and passions both online and offline."

I have met some amazing people and gotten some much needed support from them and they are always there for me when I need them.

Go check it out by clicking here!

I applaud them for all they do for each of their Wives.

MommyPerks

by Sonya

How the time flies! Almost, exactly a year ago, in Aug/Sept 2011, I remember Shauna approaching me and saying "someone wants to share a special needs story with us!!!". It was Shara from MommyPerks. She shared her personal experience about when her son was a baby and needed eye surgery. Chandler is now 13 years old!

It is hard keeping up with everyone that we meet; we are busy and so is everyone else and  MommyPerks is no exception! As well as a super busy family life they have an amazing website with a ton of stuff going on. If you click here it will take you to their 'About'. Other than providing various services they have a very helpful blog. There are also some video interviews that you can see; one that I enjoyed was where Shara recently interviewed Ellie K. from 'The Food Network' where they shared some great tips on creating snacks for your kids. Another extension of MommyPerks is the KidsPerks website. It's really cool and you will find some great resources for parents and children to use.

Another thing that I have noticed... are the posts by MommyPerks on Facebook. Other than providing general support, MommyPerks tries to support those that are in need. You will see posts where everyone has chipped in and helped. It's wonderful to see that MommyPerks has the trust and support of her followers and shows what an impact an online community can have.

I could go on all day but if LeanOnUs can become half of what MommyPerks is then I'd be a very happy webbie-person! :) Now go click here to read 'Chandler's Eye' and check out MommyPerks live Facebook stream. There really is something for everyone!

Editor’s Note: This post first appeared on Shauna Smith’s blog, bipolar2happiness.com, and she has graciously allowed me to re-publish it to my blog. I’ve featured Shauna on my blog before, and also featured her co-owner of LeanOnUs.co, Sonya, discussing how the idea of LeanOnUs came about. Sonya and Shauna are two of the sweetest, most caring, greatest people I’ve met on Twitter and I can never thank them enough for their support with the blog and being there for me when I’ve had a rough time. Thanks Shauna and Sonya! I love you.
